Chicago Underground Library Brings the Awesome
Who: The Chicago Underground Library
What: The Science of Obscurity
Where: Jupiter Outpost (1139 W Fulton Market)
When: Friday, July 10, 7-10pm
The excellent folks at the Chicago Underground Library (CUL) announce an excellent evening of new, unpublished, and still-being-polished works presented as science experiments. The event is free, BYOB, and all ages, with food and drinks for sale.
There will also be a book launch (as in “quick! Duck!”) and a rejection letter purging. Audience participation is encouraged (bring something to fling or slice!), and “work” defined broadly – zines, magazines, books, chapbooks, broadsheets, and valentines all count.
The night, impressively knighted “an official Printers Ball lead-up event,” closes with presentations from a dozen local, national, and international writers dissecting their work (real or imagined). Dioramas, volcanoes, graphs and math are promised, plus artist-designed drop boxes, debutantes, prizes (prizes!), and a raffle. Literago is stoked, and Youtubing Bill Nye in delicious anticipation.
