Layoffs at Time Out Chicago
What is it with layoffs and Chicago media lately?
The latest casualties are six staffers at Time Out Chicago, axed due to the usual: money issues. Mike Miner over at the Reader covered the bad news on his blog:
“It’s obviously not the greatest thing to do,” says Time Out publisher David Garland, “but a lot of people can relate these days.” . . . Steve Timble, the magazine’s founding publisher — he left in 2006 and is now selling space for the New York Times in Chicago — says the founders underestimated the competitiveness of the Chicago market and have been playing catch-up ever since.
Mmm-hmm.
Literago sends our regrets to the laid-off. Note to other media movers out there: Talent for the taking. . .
